CAN’T WIN DON’T TRY:
AN ART SHOW These artists are the product of the INTERNET SEMI-NATIVE GENERATION; born into a time where information was a commodity and having to assimilate to a time where information is instantly accessible and infinitely boundless. CAN’T WIN. DON’T TRY. explores the era of INFORMATION OVERLOAD; the wealth of stimuli that we are exposed to, bombarded with and unapologetically force-fed in our technologically assimilated era. The INFORMATION OVERLOAD, and resulting CREATIVE OVERLOAD; the surge in creativity that has borne the resource material for other creatives to work from. |
CAN’T WIN DON’T TRY 2:
TOPICAL, NOT TOPICAL Following the success of CAN'T WIN. DON'T TRY. (An Art Show) the CWDT family have come together once again to create CAN'T WIN. DON'T TRY 2. (Tropical, Not Topical). In a time of rapid change, we have decided that there is a new generation of art which needs a new way to be displayed, as the old rules of the gallery are becoming an outmoded experience for the middle aged and middle class to wile away a sunday afternoon. We believe that new art is dynamic, exciting, and full-on, and needs a space to be displayed in accordance with the environment it was made in, and is representative of. We are striving to swerve the emerging paradigm of internet complainers, of doom and gloom media outlets, and of enforced seriousness infesting our social media feeds, our conversations and our subconscious. After all, what good is saving the planet if no one's having fun anymore? |
CAN’T WIN DON’T TRY 3:
WHOLESALE PIRACY “If everything around us has the power to feed us information, and all of that information is skewed and false, where does that leave us?” CAN'T WIN. DON'T TRY. returns once more to London’s psuedo-creative center, Shoreditch, to turn another venue on its head with CAN'T WIN. DON'T TRY 3. (Wholesale Piracy) - the first birthday and third art show in THE THRILLOGY. "Today we are more alienated from the truth and the true nature of reality than ever before.” In the finale of the CWDT Trilogy, we will be taking you down the rabbit-hole to an art experience, where everything, including the nature of the art show itself, is warped, twisted and distorted. We strive to continue our exploration of the Information Overload and its effect on the fundamental principles of truth and fact. "I don't know what you're saying but I like the way you're saying it.” Join us for CAN'T WIN. DON'T TRY 3. (Wholesale Piracy) as we delve into the paradigm shift of the post-truth era - the night will begin with an immersive, multi-dimensional art experience, where you can consume art and sound while still being able to hear the person next to you, and as the evening progresses, watch it descend into an end of the world party, where we celebrate the dawn of the new age, and say goodbye to reality as we know it. |
CAN'T WIN DON'T TRY presents: DEATH IN PARADISE - A Halloween Art ExperienceCAN’T WIN DON’T TRY presents: DEATH IN PARADISE at Five Miles, Tottenham.
We’re back. And this time, it’s Halloween themed. Join us from 6pm on the 31st October 2017 for an immersive art experience where we continue to push the boundaries of decency, taste, and how much art it’s really acceptable to put in the toilet of a club. CAN’T WIN DON’T TRY is taking over Five Miles, a new venue in the heart of Tottenham for a one-night-only Halloween Art Experience. There will be new faces, old favourites and more art than your tiny mind can comprehend. The evening will, of course, be soundtracked by a lineup of the hardest DJs and MCs that London has to offer. Lineups, special guests and extra surprises will be announced in the run-up, so keep locked for updates. Things are about to get weird. Be ready. |

35mm photography is intrinsically prone to errors; these photographs tend to be disregarded and often discarded entirely. With his piece æccidents, photographer Matt Smithies aims to highlight the aesthetic and artistic value in these errors. In an industry concerned with perfection and flawlessness, these æccidents offer a modicum of relief.
